Pizza and I go way back.
As kids my little sister would root for burgers but I would ALWAYS ALWAYS fight for what I believed in. Pizza.
When Carmen would pout, cross her arms and groan that she “hated” pizza, I would call her a sinner.
And like all good fights sometimes the bad guy wins and we’d eat burgers… but when good would prevail and we’d eat pizza… I’d know my standing up for what I believed in really meant something (at least that night it did).
That being said, you can understand why my latest decision to take it easy on the bread has been quite difficult on my relationship with Mr. Pie.
Since it can’t be avoided I might as well say I am for the time being giving up bread… but this blog isn’t about promoting any particular lifestyle or diet it’s about good food. And that includes carbs. So while some of my recipes for awhile might be a little less bread-carb focused… feel free to adjust and add a bun, tortillas, or a hot french loaf wherever you see fit.
But before I gave anything up I wanted to make sure bread went out with a bang. And so on the night before my burgers became bun-less, burritos became bowls, sushi rolls were traded for sashimi and hashbrowns got subbed out for you guessed it – beans… I decided to make pizza.
A good crisp crust, sauce infused with basil, garlic and love all topped off with fresh mozzarella and Parmesan finely grated by yours truly.
